Amigas de Abby

Conversations with people worth knowing.

Hosted by Abby Torres

A Latina Network Original

Coming to YouTube, Spotify and Apple Podcasts.

The idea

Everyone has a story before the title.

Amigas de Abby is a conversation series hosted by Abby Torres. Abby sits down with people whose names carry weight in business, culture, leadership, public life and community, and she asks about the part of the story a bio leaves out.

Where they come from. Who shaped them. The decision that changed everything, and what they are building now. The result feels like two people who could keep talking long after the cameras stop.

  • People
  • Journey
  • Influence
  • Life
  • What’s next

Get to know the person behind the influence.

How a conversation unfolds

Eight chapters. One person.

Abby works from a rhythm instead of a script. Every conversation moves through the same chapters, so each one feels natural and still unmistakably ours.

  1. Opening

How do you and I know each other?

  2. Origin

Where it started, and who was there.

  3. Becoming

    The years nobody photographs.

  4. People

Mentors, family and friends, the ones who opened doors.

  5. Turning point

    The moment the path changed.

  6. Real life

Family, identity, money, faith, the hard calls.

  7. Influence

What a platform asks of the person who has one.

  8. Now

The work in front of them today.

  9. The Amiga Question

Who’s an amiga of yours that everyone should know?

Every conversation ends by passing the microphone forward.

Your host

Abby Torres has built her life around one idea. Relationships matter.

The daughter of Mexican parents, Abby learned early what it means to speak up for someone. As a child she went with her father to the bank and helped him communicate in rooms she was still learning to understand herself.

She moved from Kansas City to Chicago as a young adult and built a career in the mortgage industry, starting in title and processing and growing into lending. Along the way she became known for building relationships before doing business. Today she is a business professional, a mother and a connector with a network that runs across Chicago.

Who sits at the table

The guest list is defined by influence. The industry can be anything.

  • Leaders

Executives and builders who carry other people’s livelihoods.

  • Founders

The ones who started with an idea and very little else.

  • Public servants

Elected officials and civic leaders, from every side of the aisle.

  • Creators

People who built an audience one post, film or song at a time.

  • Experts

Physicians, attorneys and financial minds who know what most of us only wonder about.

  • Cultural voices

Artists, authors, athletes and entertainers who shape what we talk about.

  • Community builders

Organizers, philanthropists and neighbors who make a city work.

  • Next voices

People you will hear about soon. Abby likes to meet them first.

People we want at the table

Conversations we want to have.

None of these are announcements. They are the kinds of stories we are looking for, and the kinds of people we hope to meet.

  • A conversation we want to have

The founder who built it with family, savings and nerve.

  • A conversation we want to have

The physician whose first patients were the people at her own dinner table.

  • A conversation we want to have

The public servant who still lives on the block that raised him.

  • A conversation we want to have

The executive who was the first in her family to walk into a boardroom.

  • A conversation we want to have

The creator who turned a phone and a point of view into a career.

  • A conversation we want to have

The athlete deciding who to become after the final game.
